Ask an accountant

Ask an accountant, free, before you decide anything

Thirty minutes on the phone or a video call with a Buzz accountant about your business, your tax or your accounts. No charge, no proposal unless you ask for one, and you do not need to be a client.

What people ask

The questions this call is for

  • Whether to stay a sole trader or form a company, and when
  • How to pay yourself from a company without paying more tax than you need to
  • What VAT registration will mean for your prices and your admin
  • What is and is not claimable, and what records to keep
  • What Making Tax Digital for Income Tax means for you and when it starts
  • Whether your current accountant's fee and service are reasonable, honestly answered
  • What a set of accounts you have been sent actually says
  • Anything HMRC has written to you about
How it works

Three steps

  1. 1
    Book a slot

Pick a time on the booking page. It asks for your name, email and what you want to talk about, so the right person picks it up.

  2. 2
    Talk to an accountant

Thirty minutes by video call or phone, or in person at one of our offices if you are near one. Bring the actual numbers or letters if you have them; a rough version is fine.

  3. 3
    Leave with an answer

A plain answer to the question you brought, and where a next step exists, what it is and what it would cost. Nothing is started unless you ask.

What it is not

So nobody is surprised

  • Preparing or filing anything: that is client work, and the instant quote shows what it costs
  • Regulated financial advice on pensions, investments or protection: Buzz is not FCA-authorised, and would introduce you to Equity & General for that

If the answer is "you need an accountant", you will get the fee on the screen through the instant quote and the proposal in your inbox, and the person you spoke to is the person you would work with. If the answer is "you are fine as you are", we say so.
