Cardiff companies with 10 to 249 staff
Cardiff has 12,120 businesses. 1,290 of them employ 10 to 49 people and 255 employ 50 to 249, including 190 professional, scientific and technical firms and 85 construction firms of that size (ONS, UK Business Counts 2026).
Corporation Tax, VAT and National Insurance are the same in Wales as in England. Two Welsh charges change a finance director’s plan for a Cardiff company: Land Transaction Tax on property the company buys, and the Welsh multipliers on its business rates.
Buzz has no Welsh office. Cardiff clients work with Peter and the Buzz finance team by phone, video call and WhatsApp.

Buying premises in Wales
Land Transaction Tax on a non-residential purchase is 0% up to £225,000, 1% to £250,000, 5% to £1 million and 6% above that (Welsh Government, LTT rates and bands).
The forecast carries the deposit, the LTT, the legal fees and the loan repayments into the months they fall. Peter takes the board through the purchase against the plan before an offer goes in, and the KPI dashboard shows the effect on cash once it completes.
Your finance director’s four pieces of work
- 1The one-page plan
Your business model, the year’s objectives and your team’s priorities, agreed with you and written on one page.
- 2The cash flow forecast
Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash and valuation for at least the next 12 months, built from the plan and ready for a lender or investor.
- 3The KPI dashboard
Your most important numbers in one place, including measures such as enquiries or orders.
- 4The quarterly board meeting
Results reviewed against the plan, decisions taken, and last quarter’s actions checked.
The Buzz finance team does the weekly bookkeeping, payroll, VAT returns and the monthly board pack alongside this work. See the finance director service for the full list.

Questions from Cardiff businesses
Do you have an office in Cardiff?
Buzz has no Welsh office. Cardiff clients work with us by phone, video call and WhatsApp.
Does Welsh income tax change directors’ pay?
Not for 2026-27. The Welsh rates of income tax are set at 10p in every band, so Welsh taxpayers pay the same income tax as taxpayers in England. Land Transaction Tax and the Welsh business rates multipliers do differ.
How much does a part-time finance director cost?
From £2,000 + VAT a month. The fee includes the day-to-day finance work as well: weekly bookkeeping in Xero, payroll and expenses, VAT returns, a monthly board pack, customer invoicing and chasing, supplier payments and cash monitoring. The fee is confirmed in writing before work starts.
What does the finance director do in the first months?
Peter agrees the one-page plan with you, builds the 12-month forecast from it, sets up the KPI dashboard and runs the first quarterly board meeting. If the bookkeeping is behind, bringing it up to date is quoted separately as a one-off.
