Money Coach or Financial Adviser?

A coach and an adviser do different jobs, and Buzz connects them

A Money Coach helps you understand, organise and act. A Financial Adviser gives regulated advice and recommends specific products. Buzz Money Coach starts with clarity — and when a regulated recommendation is the right next step we introduce you to Equity & General, who are FCA authorised, so you never have to start again from scratch.

  • Build your full financial picture
  • Explore goals and future choices
  • Create budgets, priorities and action plans
  • Improve habits, confidence and accountability

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Buzz Money Coach

Is this the same as Buzz Accounting?

No. Buzz Money Coach is a sister brand dealing with your personal finances rather than your business ones — your household budget, your debts, your savings, your pensions and what you actually want your money to do. It is separate from the accountancy practice and from your company's books. The reason it exists at all is that business owners routinely have an immaculate set of company accounts and no idea what their own position is.

What does it cost?

The Financial Freedom Score is free and takes around five minutes. The Financial Healthcheck is free, with an optional coaching session at £39 to work through what it shows. A one-off Financial Roadmap is £299 — fact-find, personal balance sheet, goals, priorities, gaps, risks, milestones and a written action plan. Ongoing Coaching runs from £39 to £69 a month depending on frequency. You can stop at the free score if that is all you need, and a good number of people do exactly that.

Is this regulated financial advice?

No. Buzz Money Coach provides coaching, budgeting and planning support. It does not recommend products, tell you which pension to use or advise you to move money, because that is regulated advice and it requires an authorised firm. What that means for you: the consumer protections attached to regulated advice — the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme — do not apply to coaching. Where a regulated recommendation is the right next step, we introduce you to Equity & General, who are FCA authorised (No. 474163).

What is the difference between a money coach and a financial adviser?

A money coach works on behaviour and clarity: what you earn, where it goes, what you owe, what you are aiming at, and the habits between those. A financial adviser makes regulated recommendations about specific products — which pension, which investment, which protection policy. Most people who feel they need an adviser actually need the coaching first, because a recommendation is only as good as the information underneath it, and turning up to an advice meeting without knowing your own outgoings wastes an expensive hour. Coaching is also considerably cheaper for the work it does.

Do I have to be a Buzz Accounting client?

No. The free Financial Freedom Score is open to anyone, and the paid products are available to anyone. The Financial Healthcheck is free, and Buzz Accounting clients get it as part of the wider relationship rather than as a separate purchase. If you are a client, the practical advantage is that the coaching can start from what you actually draw from the business rather than what you think you draw — a gap that surprises people more often than it should, particularly where dividends and expenses are involved.

Who is this not for?

Anyone in genuine debt crisis. If you are facing enforcement action, arrears on priority debts such as rent, mortgage, council tax or utilities, or considering an insolvency solution, you need free regulated debt advice from an organisation such as StepChange or Citizens Advice, and you need it before you pay anyone for coaching. Those services are free, specialist and have powers and relationships coaching does not. Money coaching is for people who want to organise, plan and improve a position that is stable.

Start with the free Financial Freedom Score

Your Financial Freedom Score gives you a clear picture of where you stand, your strongest and weakest areas, and one useful next action. No product recommendation.
