A named accountant
The same person every time, who knows your business without needing the background explained again.
Accounting, tax, payroll and advisory for Oldham businesses, from the town centre out to Chadderton, Royton and the Saddleworth villages. Fixed fees, a named accountant, and someone who answers the phone.
Oldham spun more cotton than anywhere in the world and then had to find something else. Engineering and manufacturing stayed, textiles held on in a smaller and more specialised form, and the borough now has a solid base of firms making and moving physical things.
Saddleworth sits in the same borough and behaves nothing like it — villages with tourism, hospitality and a lot of people running professional businesses from home. One borough, two very different sets of books.
Both halves of the borough share one problem: equipment. Whether it is a Chadderton machine shop or a Saddleworth holiday let, money goes into physical assets, and whether that spend gets full relief in the year, spreads over several, or gets nothing at all depends on what was bought and how it was funded. It is the single commonest thing we find claimed wrongly on a new client's previous returns.
Everything runs by phone, video call and WhatsApp, which is how nearly every Oldham client works with us. What matters is not where the desk is — it is who picks up and how fast you get an answer.
The same person every time, who knows your business without needing the background explained again.
Fixed monthly fee, agreed in writing before any work starts. No hourly billing, and no invoice for picking up the phone.
Not a set of accounts nine months after your year end, once every decision has already been taken.
Accounts, tax, payroll, bookkeeping and advisory all run across the group, and Oldham clients get the lot rather than a cut-down version of it.
Year-end accounts, Corporation Tax, Self Assessment and all the filing that goes with them.
Xero and FreeAgent, kept current through the year rather than rebuilt in a panic each spring.
From one director to a full site team, auto-enrolment handled and deadlines met.
Monthly management numbers and a rolling cashflow, so you see the year coming instead of reading about it afterwards.
A whole finance function without hiring one, from processing through to board-level reporting.
Decisions taken before the year end, when they can still change the number.
Oldham is one of the ten boroughs we work across. We also act for businesses in Bolton, Bury, Manchester and Rochdale, and the work runs the same way wherever you are — see accountants across Greater Manchester for the full picture.
Yes. Stock and work in progress, capital allowances on plant, and the R&D claim where the development work is real. Those three cover most of what makes a manufacturer's accounts different.
Yes, it is part of Oldham borough and we work across it — including the hospitality and holiday-let side, which brings its own VAT and expenses questions.
By phone, video call and WhatsApp. That is how nearly every Oldham client works with us, and it is no barrier to getting a straight answer quickly.
It depends what it is and how it was paid for. Most plant and machinery qualifies for the Annual Investment Allowance, which gives full relief in the year; some assets only get a writing down allowance, which spreads it. Hire purchase and leasing are treated differently again. Getting it right is worth real money and it has to be right at the point of purchase, not afterwards.
Not the same as a normal rental, and the rules here have changed — the furnished holiday letting regime was abolished from April 2025, which removed several of the advantages people set these up for. If your planning was built on the old treatment it needs revisiting rather than repeating.
